We are sisters Camille McCray and Therese Hooker who are mosaic artists. We create one of a kind vintage china mosaics for your home and garden. Each and every one of our mosaic pieces are hand made from the most beautiful vintage china pieces. We spend a lot of time searching for the most beautiful china pieces- from antique swap meets, garage sales, online sales or even donations from friends who are aware of our hobby.
We began our hobby back in 2001 after the 9-11 disaster. A group of friends- who like most Americans felt like we needed to help in some way or another but we were so far away. So this group organized a fundraiser which involved the mosaicing of garden pavers in a patriotic theme- flags & stars all in red, white & blue tiles. We sold these pavers at the local street fair and all the proceeds were donated to the NYFD. This was just a small deed to help those that were affected by that awful disaster. Well this was the first time we had done any kind of mosaics and needless to say we were hooked. I love the picture. I'm new to mosaicing, but i'm a ceramic artist so i plan on making some of my own tiles from mistakes in the studio.
Wow, Your vases are really nice also. I am brand new to this blogging and I am trying to upload more pictures and would like to talk about how to mosaic- having some trouble navigating through the different pages.
Anyways, mosaicing with your own broken tiles would be really creative..
